Nik Nerburn (b. 1989, Bemidji, MN) is an artist living and working in Minneapolis. His cross-disciplinary practice, spanning photography, film, installation, and sculpture, reflects a sustained interest in people’s histories from places that are “off the map.” Rooted in collaboration and community, he’s worked with amateur genealogists, neighborhood clubs, community archives, small-town philosophers, and little museums.

He is the recipient of a 2024/25 MCAD–Jerome Foundation Fellowship and previously received a Jerome Foundation Film and Video Production Grant. His work has been supported by the Minnesota State Arts Board, the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council, ArtPlace America, and Springboard for the Arts. His films have screened on Pioneer Public Television, at the Minneapolis–St. Paul International Film Festival, the Chicago Underground Film Festival, Experiments in Cinema (Albuquerque), and Other Cinema (San Francisco).

Nerburn holds an MFA from the University of Minnesota and a BA from The Evergreen State College. He teaches high school photography in Minneapolis. His first solo exhibition, The Milkman, will debut at the Minneapolis Institute of Art in spring 2026.
